While many had the urge after the earthquake to donate clothes and goods, many of them end up being resold on the street. This can take away from the jobs of other local retailers and seamstresses.

The Dam Dam are a group of women who have been taught how to make papier mache home decor. As a community the women each play a part in the creation of every item. They have learned that in order to succeed they must all focus on their strengths in the production of their crafts. Older women participate in the less labor intensive tasks and those who have an eye for design focus on painting.
